Uncanny Valley

Uncanny Valley is a group work made in the months just before ChatGPT entered mainstream awareness, generated from an extended conversation Charly conducted with the chatbot about dance, choreography, and the ethics of artificial intelligence. Using the exchange itself as raw material and projecting it on the backdrop during the piece, Charly used her signature Movenglish movement language to translate the conversations into movement for a group of dancers. The piece asks what happens when a body performs language that didn't originate in a body, and where authorship lives when the "collaborator" has no stake, no history, no flesh.
